#Thailand’s main #railway network consists of 5 major lines, covering 47 provinces with a total distance of approximately 4,044 km. Divided into main lines, including the Northern Line (to Chiang Mai), the Northeastern Line (to Ubon Ratchathani/Nong Khai), the Southern Line (to Narathiwat/Malaysia), the Eastern Line (to Aranyaprathet/Map Ta Phut), and the Mae Klong Line. Most of the structure is single-track and is being rapidly developed into double-track nationwide.
Thailand’s main railway lines are divided by region.
#Northern Line:Start from Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) or Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station.Passed through: Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Lopburi, Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Lampang, Lamphun Final Destination: Chiang Mai station
#Northeastern Line:
The line branches off from the Northern Line at Ban Phachi Station (Ayutthaya).
Passed: Saraburi (Kaeng Khoi), Nakhon Ratchasima (Chum Thang Thanon Jira)
Divided into 2 main lines:
Southern Isan Line: Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, ending in Ubon Ratchathani
Northern Isan Line: Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, ending in Nong Khai
#Southern Line:
Starting from Thonburi Station or Krungthep Abhiwat Central Station, passing through Nakhon Pathom.
Passed through: Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala
Final Destination: Sungai Kolok Station (Narathiwat) and connecting to Malaysia
#Eastern Line:
From Bangkok via Chachoengsao
Branching off to: Prachinburi-Sa Kaeo (ending at Aranyaprathet) and Chonburi-Rayong (Eastern Seaboard line).
#Maeklong Railway:
It is divided into two sections: the Big Loop-Maha Chai line and the Ban Laem-Mae Klong line (which is not connected to the main network).
Important Additional Information
Provinces without railway access: Currently, there are still 33 provinces that do not have railway access, such as Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga, Mae Hong Son, Nan, Loei, etc.
Double Track: Network expansion is underway to increase transportation capacity.
